PS plastic is one of the special engineering plastics. Its Chinese name is polyphenylene sulfide, and its English name is Phenylene sulfide. It has the advantages of hardness and brittleness, high crystallinity, flame retardancy, good thermal stability, high mechanical strength, and excellent electrical properties. PPS is one of the best varieties of heat resistance in engineering plastics. The thermal deformation temperature is generally higher than 260 ℃, the chemical resistance is second only to PTFE, and the fluidity is second only to nylon. In addition, it also has the advantages of small molding shrinkage (about 0.08%), low water absorption (about 0.02%), good fire resistance, vibration resistance and fatigue resistance. Specific gravity of PPS plastic: 1.36g/cm ³  Forming temperature: 300-330 ℃

1、 Properties of PPS plastic materials

Heat resistance of PPS plastic: the thermal deformation temperature exceeds 260 ℃, which is one of the highest temperature thermoplastic engineering plastics currently used. The long-term use temperature is 220~240 ℃, and the short-term use temperature can reach 260 ℃.

Chemical resistance of PPS plastic: At present, no solvent that can dissolve PPS below 200 ℃ has been found, and it is extremely resistant to inorganic acid, alkali and salt.

Electrical properties of PPS plastic: In the environment of high temperature, high humidity and high frequency, it has high volume resistivity, surface resistivity, breakdown voltage, low dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent, and is an excellent insulating material. After modification, it can also be made into high-strength materials with good electrical conductivity.

Mechanical properties of PPS plastic: extremely rigid, high surface hardness, and excellent creep resistance and fatigue resistance.

2、 Molding properties of PPS plastics

1. Amorphous material, with small moisture absorption, should be dried before forming.

2. The fluidity is between ABS and PC, with fast solidification, small shrinkage and easy decomposition. Therefore, high injection pressure and injection speed are selected. The mold temperature is 100-150 ℃. The taper of the main runner shall be large and the runner shall be short.

The scope of application can generally be used to manufacture PPS pipes, PPS plates and other materials, mostly for building and home furnishing

The characteristics and advantages of PPS plastic polyphenylene sulfide: super high temperature resistance, dimensional stability and deformation resistance, excellent electrical performance, chemical corrosion resistance, fire resistance and flame retardancy, excellent electrical insulation performance, and good arc resistance. The long-term temperature resistance RTI of PPS plastic can reach more than 200 degrees, and the thermal deformation temperature is more than 270 degrees. With excellent mechanical properties, high rigidity, high creep resistance, better processing performance, low water absorption, small molding shrinkage, good dimensional stability, radiation resistance and other properties, this product is widely used in aerospace, chemical, electronic and electrical, machinery, automobile and railway industries to make aviation devices with high strength, high temperature resistance, insulation and other high performance requirements; Making anti-corrosion devices, anti-corrosion valves, insulation devices, etc; Making precision electrical connectors, high-strength shells, high-temperature contactors, etc; Make motor parts and terminals with harsh use environment; Fabricate vaporizers, distributors, igniters, sliders, solenoid valves for braking systems, gears, thermocouples and piston rings with high temperature resistance and precise size requirements. Make high-grade hot air duct, curler, perm and coffee pot. Suitable for secondary processing.

PPS plastics are widely used in:

Electronics: high-voltage components, shells, sockets, terminals on video cameras and computers, starting coils and blades of motors, brush brackets and rotor insulation parts, contact switches, relays, electric irons, hair dryers, lamp caps, air heaters, F grade films, etc.

Automobile industry: applicable to exhaust gas recirculation valve, pump impeller, vaporizer, exhaust device, exhaust control valve, light reflector, bearing, sensor parts, etc.

Machinery industry: used as bearings, pumps, valves, pistons, precision gears, as well as copiers, cameras, computer parts, conduits, spray, fuel nozzles, instrument parts, etc.

Chemical industry: used to make acid and alkali resistant valves, pipes, fittings, valves, gaskets, submersible pumps or impellers and other corrosion resistant parts.

The outstanding properties of PPS plastic include: good heat resistance, which can be used in the temperature range of 180~220 ℃; The corrosion resistance is close to that of polytetrafluoroethylene; Excellent electrical performance; Excellent mechanical performance; Good flame retardancy.

The disadvantages of PPS plastics are as follows: the price is too high, which is low among high-temperature resistant plastics, but much higher than general engineering plastics; Poor toughness and brittleness; Medium viscosity is unstable. Pure PPS is rarely used alone because of its brittleness, and most of the PPS used are its modified varieties. Specifically, 40% glass fiber reinforced PPS (R-4), inorganic filled PPS (R-8), carbon fiber reinforced PPS (G-6), etc. PPS is developing rapidly and is expected to become the sixth largest engineering plastic.
