What are the characteristics and advantages of engineering plastic raw material PEEK

The characteristics are summarized as follows.

① Heat resistance PEEK is a high temperature resistant thermoplastic resin, with a melting point of 334 ℃ (similar to PTFE), a long-term use temperature (UL temperature index) of 250 ℃, and a short-term working temperature of 300 ℃.

② Flexibility is among the best heat resistant resins on the market, superior to polyamide and diphenyl ether resins. As a new semi crystalline aromatic plastic engineering plastic, polyether ether ketone (PEEK) has extremely excellent physical and mechanical properties. It can replace traditional materials such as metals and ceramics in many special fields. It has made outstanding contributions to reducing mass and improving performance, and has become one of the hottest high-performance engineering plastics today. Flame retardant UL94V-O self ignition, low smoke.

④ The drug resistance is only soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid.

⑤ Good processability and fluidity, convenient for secondary processing. It is especially suitable for the insulation of electrostatic powder spraying trough, the injection molding of extruded film and printed circuit board, insulating structural parts, etc. PEEK is one of the thermoplastic materials with good heat resistance. The thermal deformation temperature after glass fiber reinforcement is 250-300 ℃, and the long-term applicable temperature is 250 ℃ (UL temperature index), while the applicable temperature of polyamide, polycarbonate, ABS and other materials is below 150 ℃. PEEK has excellent mechanical strength, and its creep resistance is obviously better than PES.

Notched creep strength at room temperature. PEEK is obviously higher than PES and nylon, and has outstanding thermal aging properties. Generally recognized heat resistant material PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) is less than 3000h, while PEEK can be more than 5000h. The commonly used nylon 66 and PBT are generally less than 500h. As we all know, PEEK, as a semi crystalline engineering plastic, is insoluble in almost all solvents except concentrated sulfuric acid, and is often used to make compressor valve plates, piston rings, seals, and various chemical pump bodies and valve components. In the field of medical implant materials, titanium and cobalt chromium alloys have been the mainstream for a long time, but their application is limited due to the high cost. In recent years, because of its excellent biocompatibility, mechanical properties and lower cost, PEEK resin has good friction resistance and mechanical properties in the automotive industry. As the raw material for manufacturing the engine hood, its bearings, gaskets, seals, clutch gear rings and other components are widely used in the automotive transmission, braking and air conditioning systems. It is increasingly used in the field of implants.
